The Aransas Pass ISD Education Foundation joined APISD staff at the 2026-2027 Convocation ceremony to present 16 Innovative Teaching Grants totaling over $61,000. This is the largest total Innovative Teaching Grant annual award amount since the Foundation’s establishment in 2022.
Each year, APISD staff members have the opportunity to submit applications to the Education Foundation for Innovative Teaching Grants. Applications are reviewed by the Foundation anonymously and the grants awarded are those that are designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize, and reward innovative and creative instructional approaches to accomplish program objectives, goals, and initiatives of the Campus Action Plan. Grants are offered for programs which are not already funded as part of the district or campus budget.
“Every dollar in these grants came from somebody in this community,” said Education Foundation member G.A. Hill. “Nobody was required to give. They gave because this town believes in what happens in your classrooms. So when you take that grant back to your room, understand what you’re holding. It is a whole community telling you we saw the idea you had and we’re betting on it.”
“Our teachers, administrators, and district staff all have incredible ideas for creating meaningful learning experiences for our students,” said APISD Superintendent Wayne Bennett. “These grants give them the resources to bring those ideas to life, and we are extremely grateful for the Education Foundation’s continued support.”
Since its founding in 2022, the APISD Education Foundation has awarded $132,548 in Innovative Teaching Grants, and $230,118 in passthrough grants, totaling $406,138. For more information about the Aransas Pass ISD Education Foundation, visit their website at www.apisdeducationfoundation.org.
